Year 6 had a brilliant time at their Mexican Fiesta.
As a celebration of our topic ‘Hola Mexico’ the children have been working in groups to organise a Mexican party themselves. To achieve this they needed to work together as a team, collate ideas, allocate jobs, gather resources and ensure it was all completed in time.
The room was decorated in a Mexican Fiesta theme by the decorating team.
There was a model Temple as our focus made by one group.
The actives were organised with clear instructions by the activities team. The different activities comprised of food tasting, learning a Mexican dance, playing the Maya Ball Game, a jumping beans game, decorating biscuits in a Mexican theme, exploring the amazing instruments the children had made for their homework and a pin the sombrero on the Mexican game.
The food group thought about the food for the food tasting activity and provided the teachers with a detailed shopping list.
The Costume Department, researched Mexican dress and encouraged everyone to dress up where possible.
The music group composed and rehearsed a fantastic piece of Mexican inspired music and lead our Parade around school.
The afternoon ended with a Parade around the school sharing the Mexican music and an attempt at breaking the piñata.
Thank you to Tilly who made some delicious Mexican deserts for us to try.
Thank to all the parents for their support with the amazing outfits.
Finally a huge well done to all of Year 6 you were committed to your groups and worked together to plan a fantastic afternoon for everyone, we were all very proud.
