St Mary's School

The children are at the heart of everything we do.

We are happy to announce that the KS2 Eco Club has been up and running for the last few weeks.

Today, 3rd December, we had special visitors in from Douglas Council who explained to us what is recycled on the Isle of Man.

It was very interesting to hear about what stays on Island and what is shipped to the UK, along with what the materials are eventually used for.

Who knew football shirts are made using plastic fibres and that it takes 3 litres of water, mixed with oil to make a plastic bottle!

From this, we've decided to set up paper recycling boxes in each shared area. We are currently working on posters to advertise this around school.

We are also hoping to set up a Christmas Card recycling box, which can be used by parents/children when we return back after the Christmas break.
