Last week, we dedicated a full day to exploring the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. As a class, we focused on Article 30, which highlights every child’s right to enjoy their own culture, practise their own religion, and speak their own language.
We began by learning about a variety of different cultures and religions from around the world, encouraging curiosity, respect, and understanding. The children then selected a culture or religion that they were particularly interested in or personally connected to.
They carried out their own research and created presentations to share their learning with the class. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm, effort, and pride the children showed in their work, as well as the respect they demonstrated while learning about each other’s backgrounds and interests.
