St Mary's School

The children are at the heart of everything we do.

We started our week by identifying and classifying materials.

Next we thought about which materials might be good to make a bird box from. Miss Slater and Mrs Quinn taught us all about Fair Testing. We completed a Fair Test together. The question we investigated was: Which material is most wind resistant? We all made a prediction about which material (thin card, thick card, plastic, wood, polystyrene) we thought would be best. Then we drew a labelled diagram of how to complete the investigation. Then we tested and all had a go at recording the results:

The final thing we had to do was to use our results to make a conclusion!

In PE, we looked at measuring our heart rate using a scale of 1-10 (1 slow and 10 super fast). We found that speed bounce and burpees gave the highest score! Deep breathing got the lowest score.

Next, we will be looking at doing our own Fair Test. The question we will investigate is: Which material is the sturdiest?
