This week in Maths, we have been learning how to partition numbers within 20. The children were given a whole number and explored the different ways they could split it into parts. To make the learning active and hands‑on, we created large part–whole models using hula hoops and used bean bags as the “parts.”
The children worked brilliantly—trying out different combinations, moving bean bags between the hoops, and talking about the different ways their whole number could be partitioned. This practical approach helped them see that numbers can be broken down in lots of different ways, all while having fun and working together.
