We were celebrating Chines New year the Year of the Snake. Mrs N created a beautiful spot tray to help us learn about this special celebration.
We had to try and use chopsticks an move rice into tiny bowls - not sure we were very successful as Terri (our cleaner) had quite a bit of rice in her hoover!!!
We listened to the story of how the Chinese Emperor created the Chinese zodiac by making the animals race across the river - Rat won so he is the first sign of the zodiac.
The children discovered that they were born in the year of the Pig (2019) or the Rat (2020) Mrs Callow was born in the Year of the Rooster!
The class discovered that red and yellow are considered lucky colours in Chinese Culture. Why not ask what else they discovered? Hopefully they can think back and remember!
